You all ready for Halloween?

What are your plans? How are you gonna cope with the candy? I finally broke down and bought some. I had Ted hide it. I also bought some sugar free Reeses and some sugar free Hershey’s with caramel inside. Very good, but limiting myself.

So today, what can I say, the sugar thing got me today, namely the dumb poptarts. i was so happy I lost 3 pounds, but I was craving sugar! Bad, bad. But I plan on working it off tomorrow. Gonna get up in the morning, and do level 3 of the Shred, then shower and get my grocery list ready. Then go to therapy, Sprouts and Walmart. Then come home and do Halloween, and then at about 9:oo me and a friend are going to go see a local band play. Is a Halloween party, but I am not dressing up, just gonna wear a funny t shirt with skulls on it, lol.

here is another article on Halloween candy I thought might help:

Ghosts, Goblins, Gremlins … Candy … oh My! by Janice Taylor

Halloween is but two days away! Is “Candy” calling your name? She sure is a seductress!

What to do? Change your name and then …

Think Ahead!
Curb the Sugar Cravings. On Halloween or on any other day, remember that balanced meals curb sugar cravings! Therefore, do not make a candy bar your breakfast. First have a poached egg, some fruit, a slice of whole wheat toast (or healthy balanced breakfast of your choice) and then … should you indulge in a piece of candy, you will be less likely to go full tilt hog wild.

Think Outside the Candy Box. You could (yes, you could) give those adorable trick or treaters fun stickers or party favors or even rubber spiders. Now - that’s lasting fun!

Last Minute Shopping. This is one exception to the rule “be prepared.” Do NOT shop ahead of time. Do NOT keep bags of trick-or-treat candy in the house. HOLD OFF - till the very last second! That means, if you haven’t picked up candy yet, DON’T. There’s always tomorrow morning or on your way home from work tomorrow night!

Yucky vs. Yummy. Another exception to the ‘only eat what you love’ rule. Do NOT buy, store, or house candy that you like. What are you least likely to dip into? That’s your choice! Choose yucky over yummy!

Keeping YOU Honest!
Read the labels. Even those big bags of mini-bite-sized beauties have labels. Read them and know the magnitude of your sins!

Save Some! Oh boy … Now there’s a crazy concept. Even though you’ve been careful not to buy your favorite candies - nevertheless, your favorite candies have landed in front of you! How about you choose 3 pieces (or more or less … you decide) that delight your sugary soul and savor them. One piece per day. YES! Imagine … setting candy limits!

Hire Dave, the Doorman. If you can’t “handle” it, literally - as in handing out candy at the door without implementing the the “One for you, two for me” method … then delegate someone else to be the one who ‘mans’ the door and rent a doorman costume for him/her!)

The Morning After
Give “IT” Away. Bring ‘it’ to the office, give ‘it’ to a neighbor, donate ‘it’ to your church! Just be sure to get ‘it’ out of your house! (Reserve a seat at The Holiday Diet table!)

Skip the “Day After Halloween Get As Fat As You Can for 1/2 Price Sale!” May be the hardest part of Halloween for the gifted shoppers out there, but in the end, 1/2 price candy is gonna’ cost you plenty!

What’s your strategy? Seriously, what will you do after the Belly Bustin’ Bingeing Season Kick-Off? What’s your plan, your strategy to get through the holidays without gaining weight?

Spread the word, NOT the icing!

So this is our pumpkin!! I played with the pic and got it to glow! I love posting pics, lol.
So had a good but busy day! Did a good workout tonite too.
I apologize for not getting to blogs lately been so busy! For those of you who don’t know I am back on as coleader of the wildcats, so that keeps me busy, and I am loving it!
Well gotta check in with the forum, love you all!

What is your diamond in the rough?

Every person has a special attribute that makes him or her unique, no matter who you are, what you do or where you live. I want you to think about that for a moment. Is your special something known to those around you, or do you keep it wrapped up tight away from others?

I think it’s important to look into our inner resources, or our internal qualities. Therein lies our most valuable personal assets. If you don’t look, these wonderful treasures could lie buried forever. So today, I simply want you to be a miner of sorts and identify at least one jewel within you. We all have them, so what is your diamond in the rough?

Wishing You Great Health,
Dr. John H. Sklare

I thought this was good. we need to look deep with in ourselves and find that jewel. This blog was inspired by Nancy. She is deep in self discovery and I think it is awesome. We need to really appreciate who we are, and find our inner beauty. This journey is so much more than just weight loss. I have grown in ways I could never imagine. I think this is all about finding your self,  and learning ( maybe for the first time) who you really are. The emotions we kept numbed by food, the fear. We can no longer hide, and I don’t want to.

This is our time to shine, people! I am still looking for my inner jewel, I think part of it is that I love you people with a passion, I told a friend yesterday that I am a lifer here, and it is true. You all have helped me come closer to the me I was meant to be than ever before. It is scary, challenging, not altogether pain free, but I would not trade this journey for anything. No amount of money could replace it.

Well, I got my hours changed today! I now go to work from 7:15 to 3:45, and i love it, got home in time to do a good workout! Next week will be hitting the gyM!

Hope you all are having a great nite, and I love you!

Thanks you all!!

I was amazed at the response to my pic! Yes, that WAS me, but no more. I am NEVER going back to that. See people? It CAN be done. NO ONE IS DOOMED TO BE FAT!! My dr was so scared he wanted me to have weight loss surgery, but I just couldn’t do it. No condemning anyone who has it, I know there are cases where it is very needed. But I had to give it one last shot, and well, I am so happy now!

So all it took was getting real down and honest with myself, and doing the work. And let me tell you, the rewards outweigh any of the negatives!!

I love being able to walk, climb stairs, bend over, get down on my knees. All things I had thought were gone forever!

Let me urge you to make that choice, to be healthy and gain your life back!

Today at work was crazy, we are so shorthanded. We need help! But I got thru it.

So hope you all are staying well, and away from the flu.

Is finally starting to feel like winter here. Tomorrow will get down in the 30’s and 40’s at nite, 50-60 during the day. Cold to us! Time to get my coat out!

Love you all, have a good nite!

Want you to see what I used to look like….

Horrors and I was so sick. I am so thankful to no longer be like this. See? It can be done!
