Lots of talk about balance…

So I thought today’s devotion was good.

“Self Control”

August 27
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1:5-8 NIV

The Word says that a person will die for lack of discipline and instruction, and in his folly he will go astray and be lost (See Proverbs 5:23). You can’t buy discipline, but you have an inner ability to develop self-control.

By spending time with God, you can be filled with His Spirit and controlled by His power to live a calm life with a well-balanced mind of discipline and self-control (See 2 Timothy 1:7). Consciously add self-control to your behavior today.

I felt this applied.

Quick one this morning, on break. I have my 1 on 1 meeting today at work, and some training this afternoon, so not sure how much I can be on today.

Hope you all are having a great one!

Please remember our dear buddy Jane in your prayers, I heard she is not doing so well.

Well, I am doing ok, but have a new challenge with mom and dad. Need to separate their checking accounts, seems they may make too much(yeah right) if it is jointly, according to the lady from state aid. Not sure how to do this since mom is in the center, and I’m not on the accounts. So now we have to figure that out.

Well, I need to go, break is over, I will be back at lunch. Love you all!

That was very timely for me today! I have to focus more on my discipline to save money, not just lose weight….gotta get ready for my husband to be able to retire from the Marine Corps before too much longer.

Sorry to hear Jane isn’t doing too well. Gonna have to go to her blog and give her well wishes.

That lady from state aid should’ve given you some advice on how to separate their accounts. Woulda been helpful! lol I have no experience with this sort of thing myself. Best of luck to you!

OMG!! I need to read the devotion over and over and over again, because I believe it can help ALL OF US not only in our spiritual quest but in ALL areas of our lives. There is so much to be said for DISCIPLINE and PERSEVERENCE!! Thank you for sharing this…..now, let’s get to something more important and not that the devotion isn’t important on its own, but the last thing you said about Jane…..OMG, please update me and PLEASE let me know, if you know how to get a hold of her or anyone in her family!! I am terrified, I noticed she hadn’t been around, but I was pretty clueless until I read your blog!

Have a great day Kama. I know it seems like the state always demands something new. Just make sure you have all the ducks in the row and the Durable Power of Attorney for your mom and dad.
