Slow and Steady
Remember the fable about the tortoise and the hare? The hare got off to a zippy pace and seemed sure to win. But he didn’t, did he? The tortoise, while naturally much slower than the hare, kept moving steadily towards the finish line and was able to cross first. What’s the take-home message of this fable? Slow and steady wins the race. To reach your weight-loss goals, you need to switch from the hare’s to the tortoise’s mindset. In other words, you must break the “all or nothing” mentality.
Do you start diets with super superhuman resolve — determined to eschew temptation and work out seven days a week — only to fall off the wagon and give up hope?
This kind of approach to anything — especially to your health — can be very appealing, even motivational. Hey, I’m telling you right now it’s the most dangerous way to set out. Human beings are imperfect. When you do skip a workout or give in to temptation (something we all do), you’re more likely to throw in the towel.
So, start thinking like a tortoise. Pace yourself. Have a slice of pizza and take a day off now and then, but don’t stray too far from the path that will you to your goals.
So good I wanted to post it!

LOL!! I had to post this!! Too cute!
How are we this morning? I’m tired this week for some reason, did do Hip Hop abs fat burning cardio this morning.
I think I will go to bed early tonite, to try and get rested up. Maybe I need a vacation, lol.
No Biggest Loser tonite, I will miss that.
Hey, I made something good last nite. I was having a veggie burger and wanted a low cal substitute for tater tots. So, I sliced a tomato and some yellow bell pepper, and put balsamic vinegar and salt and pepper on it and ate it with my burger, was really good! Wanted to share that with you all.
Well, gotta run and post, love you all!

Sorry buddies, this is me today. Didn’t get to do my grocerys shopping till after 8:30 last nite, so by the time I got done, and we got it all put away, it was after midnite. So, I’m pooped. Then I overslept and jsut had time to do my 8 power rounds with Billy. Oh well, I will do some more later. So how are we?
I bought some good stuff at the store, and will email my dr today about South Beach, too. I am trying some cheese sticks.
Well, gotta run, thanks for all the support on my posts over the weekend, love you all!
After slowing down to an unexplained stop for the 147th time in the space of 2 miles, I decided that I hated the world. Surrounding me were an ocean of maddening brake lights, rain pelting the windshield and thousands of tons of steel and fiberglass flung around by a clueless pack of selfish morons who obviously didn’t know the first thing about driving!!
It was in serious danger of ruining my whole day.
Is there anything more frustrating than being bogged down in traffic? Most all of us have been there before. That discouraged, fed up feeling that just makes us want to throw up our hands in surrender or lay them on the horn.
Thankfully, I stopped muttering helplessly and started thinking instead. And I realized that I often witness another type of “road rage” – the frustration that builds on the road to weight loss: Diet Rage.
Think about your dieting history. Does it give you the same feeling as an exasperating traffic jam? You never quite get where you want to go as fast as you want to get there. You get aggravated, yell (usually at yourself), and see people in other lanes going faster than you (how do they DO that?!), and it usually ends up ruining your day.
Here’s the lesson: Getting frustrated with your diet does no more good than getting frustrated in traffic. It just makes you unhappy, unsuccessful and tense.
By the time I got to work (it was a long commute), I noticed a lot of things that we, as weight loss veterans, can learn from traffic jams. Next time you start to feel frustrated with your weight loss progress, keep these “lessons of the road” in mind:
I finally did get to my destination after all. Hands were pried away from the steering wheel, teeth were unclenched, and a few aspirin were popped. Of course, people in the cars around me probably had a good laugh at my arm-waving and soundless yelling. Funny how we can lose our senses when faced with something that frustrates us, whether it’s traffic or our diets.
Thanks to these insights, my story had a happy ending. Hopefully, remembering these rules will help you reach your destination sooner – and more content – than you expected
That is what I lost! Geez, gets harder and harder the smaller I get!
Well, I had a good day yesterday, and did the Get Ripped 1000 dvd, and then did the Billy Blank Bootcamp Live one, too. I need to get more weights, and a bench! The wieghts I have are getting too easy for me, and I noticed in the Get Ripped, she was using heavier ones than I have. So, I will work on that.
Well, hey, the Wildcats still need more members! So come join the fun! We all work hard, but know how to have fun, too.
So how are we today? Good luck to all the weight loss teams! GO WILDCATS!!!!
I have to do my grocery shopping today. I wanted to start South Beach tomorrow, but Ted really wants me to check it out with my dr first, due to my past medical problems, so I agreed to do that. I need to check some stuff out first too. We are on a very limited budget, and I need to see it I can afford this. There is also the concern of how to do the first 2 weeks while I’m working, since you have to have so many eggs. Not sure how I would do that. Any ideas? So, I kinda got delayed on my plan to do that, Sorry Buddies! I just want to be sure it is the right thing for me. Ted has known alot of people who did it and got discouraged, he doesn’t want that to happen to me, he says I have come too far.
So I agreed to listen. He also asked me why if what I am doing is working, why would I want to change now? He has a valid point. I guess I need some input from you all, too. I just want to be able to maintain my weight loss the healthiest way possible. I have been sooo stressing over this. I mean, I know how to lose weight, but I have never been in maitenanc,e so I have no idea how you do that. This is why I wanted to do South Beach, not so much to lose more, but to keep it off. Hmm, wondering if maybe I could just adapt to phase 3? for the guidelines? What do you all think? I love the book, Dr Agatson makes alot of sense.
I would appreciate you all’s thoughts on this, Very confused about what I should do. Ted has some valid concerns, and with my past health problems, I feel it is crucial to do it right. Ok, enough of my babbling, gotta go post, love you all!
Wildcats still need more members! If you are seriously motivated to lose this weight, and want to have fun and make good friends while doing it, come join us. We compete with The Fitness Fanatics, the Hot Rods, The Heartbreakers, and the Rockstars. Weigh ins are on Sunday mornings at 10 am, no matter of your time zone. If you want to join, message me or Molly! Love to see you there!
How are we today???
First of all let me say I got my Get Ripped 1000 dvd yesterday, Thanks, Jennifer! So you know what I will be doing today!!! Looks hard, so it should be a challenge, but I do love a challenge.
Well, I had a blast last nite! My best friend Lida and I did a girl’s nite! We went shopping after work, and I got 2 new workout oufits, and another sports top, and some new workout socks, and 3 new pairs of wooly footies( I love them, my feet get cold enven in the summer and all my old ones had holes), a new summer dress, and a another summer top, and some new workout shoes, and this gorgeous brown patterned top, all for less then $67.00!!
We went to a store called Last Chance, does anyone else have one? We also went to Marshalls, I’m so excited!! I have one of my new workout outfits on, now, pink top and gray pants.
The other one is a white top with hot pink and white shorts, and my shoes are white. I look great! LOL
You know it is so awesome shopping for clothes now, I told Ted I love looking good in my clothes again! And I also got some new capris, size 9!!! Woo hoo!
Ok, enough of me bragging, I was so pumped last nite. Then we went and ate at a place called PieZano’s, and I had their Tuscan salad with the Balsami vinaigrette, was so good, and fat free! It was awesome, and we had lots of girl time. We reall needed that.
Well, Ted is fixing breakfast, a breakfast burrito, so that will count as lunch, too.
I will do my workout after I get done here.
Oh yeah, my feet have definetly gone done, from a 8 1/2 to am 8! So don’t tell me you don;t lose wieght in your feet, Ted! LOL
Well off to go post and read blogs! You all have a wonderful day! Love ya!
Every single eveningAs I’m lying here in bed,
This tiny little Prayer
Keeps running through my head:
God bless all my family
Wherever they may be,
Keep them warm and safe from harm
For they’re so close to me.
And God, there is one more thing
I wish that you could do;
Hope you don’t mind me asking,
Please bless my computer too.
Now I know that it’s unusual
To Bless a motherboard,
But listen just a second
While I explain it to you, Lord.
You see, that little metal box
Holds more than odds and ends;
Inside those small compartments
Rest so many of my friends.
I know so much about them
By the kindness that they give,
And this little scrap of metal
Takes me in to where they live.
By faith is how I know them
Much the same as you.
We share in what life brings us
And from that our friendships grew.
Please take an extra minute
From your duties up above,
To bless those in my address book
That’s filled with so much love.
Wherever else this prayer may reach
To each and every friend,
Bless each e-mail inbox
And each person who hits ’send’.
When you update your Heavenly list
On your own Great CD-ROM,
Bless everyone who says this prayer
Sent up to GOD.com
AMEN!!
Kind of how I feel exactly!
