Happy Saturday!

How are we today? Surviving the leftovers, I hope! Good thing turkey low calorie! I did get attacked by the evil pumpkin pie last nite! But I hadn’t eaten much all day yesterday. I did go and get a cheeseburger with mom, but I had a salad with it instead of fries. Doesn’t appear I have gained anything from the holiday, I hope that is true on weigh in. I will be doing my boot camp dvd again this morning, and my team challenges. Won’t be taking a break on Sunday sinceI took one on Thursday.

Well, got alot of the paperwork done for mom yesterday. Yeesh! they want to know everything! Mom has to call and get a statement from where dad gets his pension from and also from her health insurance to see how much they take out of their social security check. But that is the only 2 things left. I never saw such a mess, poor mom had been up all night stressing and going thru reciepts and stuff. They needed her utility bill receipts, rent reciepts, etc. Wow! Poor mom! But we got thru it. I did treat mom to Starbucks, and yes I got a lowfat coffee cake. She reaaly enjoed it, though and it was quality time spent together. Then we went and saw dad, he is doing great and looks well and is getting bakc to his spunky, bossy self! LOL, Ilove that!

Well, then mom and I went to get a late lunch,(lesson learned, not to let myself get too hungry!) I was shaky, because I had done all my workouts and had had very little protein all day, and the caffeine didn’t help. So we stopped at Denny’s and I had to admit, I got a cheeseburger! Didn’t get fries, though!

Then for some reason I HAD to have a peice of pie last nite! At lteast the cool whip was fat free! Gonna give awy the rest of the pie, still have half of it left, EVIL PIE!!!

But I’m happy to say I did not stuff it like I normally would have, so I consider this a success.

Gonna do some creative stuff with the leftover turkey, and been working on giving mom some of the other stuff for meals, too, to tide her over until she gets her check. Plenty of turkey and stuff for that!

Aaaah, so nice to be able to get online at home again! It has turned chilly here, but that just makes it feel more like the holidays! Gonna decorate for Christmas next weekend, gotta get my stuff from storage, but wanted to relax and see some friends this weekend!

Well, off to check on blogs, you ALL have a wonderful day! Love ya! NOW GET THOSE WORKOUTS IN!!!!!!!!!! AND PUT DOWN THAT PIE! :) :)

Quick one today…

Got to get to mom’s early to help her with her paperwork. I did my boot camp workout already and my challenges. I will come back on later if I can.

Hope you all survived the holiday, Ididn’t do too bad. leta’ all get back in the fight and beat that fat to the ground! Love you all, have a great one, will catch up on blogs later!

Happy, happy, happy!!!

Happy Thanksgiving all you awesome buddies!!! I’M ONLINE!!!!!!!!! Our home computer works, yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kudos to my awesome, wonderful boyfriend for working so hard on it! I’m very happy!

Well, how are we all? I have to confess, I slept in this morning, wnet to bed with a real bad stiff neck, and I slept straight thru my alarm I had set to do my workout! Then had to get up and clean and get stuff ready for dinner, mom is coming over, and then later we are gonna take a plate up to dad, and Ted is coming, too!

This will be an awesome day, I can feel it! I baked a pumpkin pie last nite, and picked up a veggie tray. And have my casserole and sweet potatoes ready to go in when the turkey is done. So, I decided to make today, my “break” day, but will be back on it tomorrow, I promise! I’m wearing a pair of “skinny” blue jean shorts with embroidered flowers on them, I just love them and couldn’t wear them for the longest time! Plus a white, lacy top, I feel like I look pretty good!

I had to do some thinking about today, and I decided that I will just enjoy myself(within reason) and if I’m up abit, or maintain, I’m not gonna let it get me down, or stop me. But I really want to enjoy today with my family. Mom even felt up to making her homemade cranberry sauce( it’s the bomb), and she is so excited about coming over! Her outlook on things is getting much better, and they will be releasing dad on Tuesday! I will go to her house tomorrow to help her do some much needed paperwork for the insurance, and I assured her she had my support and I will help her all the way. I told her there is stuff she has to do that she may not like, but I related it to when I was a kid, and she made me do things I didn’t want to do, because they were good for me, and she did it because she loved me. I related it to this, and she really got the point(thanks Ted, for you insight!) I had come home and spoke to Ted about it, and he was able to give me a good, nonemotional look at it, thank God for him!

Well, I love you all, hope you are all having a wonderful day! Gonna go and read some blogs!

Quick prayer request

Well, mom meets with the case worker this morning. They want to discharge dad on 11/27. But, the concern is whether mom is capable of taking proper care of him, she gets so forgetful. The case worker told me yesterday, that if she refuses to move to an assisted care facility, dad may have to stay in the nursing home, and Adult Protective Services would get involved. Mom has been real resistant to the idea of moving, but I feel it would be best. So, the case worker is gonna lay it out to her. Mom doesn’t want to hear it from me, so I hope this will help, thanks buddies for the prayers!

Also, I will be on and off today, but not sure how much over the holiday, Ted is still working furiously to get our computer up to par. If I have to, I will make it to the library sometime to check on you all. Hopefully I will be abel to get on at home sometime!

Happy day before Turkey day!

How are we all this morning? I’m good. I have to confess, I did eat dinner last nite, had just a bit of the casserole I made, and *gasp* some cookies. But I gave myself a stern talking to, and got right back on program this morning, not gonna fall and slip, now! So, I did my taebo this morning and my floor workout last nite, too. and I will do the rest of my workouts today, too.

Plan for tomorrow: Do what I did yesterday, and enjoy myself, but NOT gorge!

I feel confident I won’t blow it too much tomorrow!

Well, buddies, you all blew me away yesterday, with the responses to my blog. A couple of you really made me cry, thanks. I don’t feel worthy of being on such a pedestal, or being called a hero, but I humbly accept. All I did and am doing is what I know to do, and it works. If I can help anyone on the way, well that is so much the better! I love you all and really want to help and see you succeed! I KNOW you all can do it!!!

So, with that being said, let’s kick it into gear! Go, buddies, go! Woo hoo!!!

Let’s not gobble, gobble, and look like this turkey! LOL

Gobble!! Gobble!! Have a great Thanksgiving!

** WHY AMERICANS ARE TOO FAT

Weight control is far more complex than simply balancing calories
consumed with energy expended.  Here are 10 top (alternative) reasons
why Americans are overweight — and some may surprise you.

Rates of obesity are higher than ever in the United States. According
to the Centers for Disease Control, more than six in 10 American
adults are overweight or obese — and most adults are about 25 lbs
heavier than people were in the 1960s. To make matters worse, more
than half of all overweight people actually think they’re at a healthy
weight, according to a recent Associated Press poll.

In theory, weight control is a simple matter of balancing energy
intake (the calories supplied by food) with energy output (the
calories expended by physical activity, the digestion of food, and the
functioning of your body). To lose weight, you need to expend more
energy than you take in. In practice, however, the task is not that
simple. While the basic principle of energy balance remains true,
several mechanisms — genetic, metabolic, and environmental — can
affect how much you eat and how your body uses and stores energy.

A revealing study published in the International Journal of Obesity
(online edition, June 27, 2006) highlighted 10 reasons why Americans
are fat.  The study explained that too much food and a lack of
exercise are not the only factors contributing to obesity. They
identified 10 other possibilities:

* Weight gain factor 1. Less sleep. We’ve gone from an average of nine
to seven hours of sleep a night; sleep deprivation is linked to a more
robust appetite.

* Weight gain factor 2. Pesticides and other chemicals in foods. These
substances can change hormonal activity, which can boost body fat.

* Weight gain factor 3. Air conditioning and heating. We don’t sweat
and shiver as much as our ancestors, so we don’t burn as many
calories.

* Weight gain factor 4. Fewer smokers. Nicotine is an appetite
suppressant.

* Weight gain factor 5. Greater use of medications, such as
antidepressants and diabetes drugs, which have weight gain as a
potential side effect.

* Weight gain factor 6. Population changes. There are now more older
people as well as more Hispanics in the United States, and these
groups have higher rates of obesity.

* Weight gain factor 7. Older birth mothers, whose children are more
prone to excess weight gain than the offspring of younger mothers.

* Weight gain factor 8. Genetics. Obese moms may pass the trait onto
their children in utero.

* Weight gain factor 9. Higher body weight = greater fertility. Heavy
people produce more offspring than thinner people.

* Weight gain factor 10. Assortative mating. Heavy people tend to mate
with each other and produce heavy children.

I survived!!

Got thru the potluck! I’m not  stuffed to the point of hurting, either! My body just knew when to stop, and I don’t feel deprived at all!

Was funny, some people here were shocked to see me eat!

if I can handle today, Thanksgiving will be no sweat!

Ok, a few thoughts that I need to get out before I go.

I want to take time to list what I’m thankful for this year:

1. My Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ

2. My family, so lucky to still have my parents around.

3. An awesome, supportive relationhip with Ted, my boyfriend

4. An extremely cool best friend, named Linda, who knows me better than I do, sometimes.

4. Each and every single one of you here on Buddyslim, I love every one of you!

5. Buddyslim itself and Dr. Marc!

6. The return of my good health

7. My job

8. my home

9. my pets

10. Living in a place where freedom is a priority

11. for our servicepeople and their willingness to protect us.

12. for having enough to eat every day(more than enough!)

I was thinking of this this morning, and I had to express it. You people are so truly amazing, and I’m not the same person I was last January, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!~

Love you all soooooooo much!! !

I Love You

Want to wish you all….

Happy Thanksgiving A very Happy Thanksgiving! Wish I had time to send you all Boosters! So doing it here! Love you all!

Happy Tuesday, all my gorgeous buddies!!!

tuesday Hiya buddies!!! How are we this morning? I’m doing great! Well, I made a decision for this week. I’m gonna just shoot for maintenance, and keep up on my workouts. Today we have a potluck at work, and then Thursday is Thanksgiving. I’m planning to fall back on something I learned from Weight Watchers, I will be very picky and choosy about what I eat, and only take small amounts of what I really want. I did that before a few years ago, and it worked great. And NO seconds! And only ONE dessert!!! So, that is my plan, plus upping my workouts while I’m off work, too. So, if I don’t lose this week I won’t be too upset! So, I have had my op breakfast, and will have a VERY light dinner. So this week may be bumpy, but I’m in for the ride!

So, what are all your plans for getting thru the holiday? I would love to hear how you all are planning on doing it.

Well, you all have a great day! and stay op as much as possible! Lets’ remember our goals and fight to stay fit! Love yas!

Good Lord I missed you all!!!

Missed you Not having a working computer sucks!!!! I missed you all sooooooooo much!!! Ugh!

Well, I did ok, did all my workouts!! But we have to spend quite a bit of money on the computer that I didn’t plan on so I couldn’t buy all the stuff I planned to for Thanksgiving, so, my plan is to keep up with my workouts, (increase thme a bit while I am off work) and will tyr to maintain, and just eat very small amounts and get thru that way.

Welkl, dad is still not home, gonna try and take him a plate on Thanksgiving. Having to do dinner for mom, she is just not up to it.

So, I got all the stuff yesterday, and will do the best I can with my eating.

Lol, my mom is practically begging me not to lose anymore weight! I told her I want to get to goal and then stop. I did ask my dr and she said 135 is NOT too low. So I will keep on. My stomach is a bit messed up, think it is affecting my weight loss, too. But I’m taking some stuff for it.

Well, I guess that is for now, hopefully will be able to my computer by this weekend, the downloads are taking forever, but at least it is slowly getting better.

I may not be able to get to all the blogs I missed, but I will try, ok? Love you all!
