Exercise, I thought this was good

I like this…

Motivation is actually an excuse NOT to do something.. Are you motivated to go to work? To go to class? Or are those two activities just part of your normal routine.. That is the key.. You have to MAKE exercise part of your normal routine. So don’t wait around for motivation, just do it when you have set aside the time to do so..

Motivation kicks in AFTER you have started a regular exercise program and you start to reap the benefits. That is what keeps you going.. You like the results and want more.. But in the beginning, you just have to do it.

Scheduling a time to do it each session is an excellent way to start. Make sure it is at a time where nothing else interferres with your execise. Personally for me, that is either at 4 AM or at 9 PM.. those are my two windows of opportunity to exercise uninterrupted or feeling like I am depriving my family.. So I make it a point to get my exercise in at those times..

You don’t have to start with anything formal.. You can start by doing basic stretches, crunches, etc.. then add on to that.. You can walk 15 minutes in one direction and then turn around and walk home.. You can use the treadmill or elliptical when you watch the news or get caught up with tv that you recorded.. You can do home workouts.. Lots to choose from..

Ain’t that the truth. Sometimes I have no motivation what so ever, but I just force myself to do it. I feel better afterwards though.

You are so right, like last night, I knew I HAD to get on the elliptical for 30 minutes and when I was done, I felt better.

Great blog Kama and you’re so right!  Suddenly you find your body WANTING to exercise after it becomes a habit.

You are 120% correct about everything you said about exercise and finding ways to incorporate it in your schedule.  Thanks for your words of wisdom and encouragement.  As an avid exerciser (in the past and slowly getting there again), I can vouch for what you say as being true! More power to you for recognizing it and sharing it with the rest of us!
